What is the difference between Comprehensive and Third Party Fire & Theft Cover?
Third Party Fire & Theft Cover will cover the Theft/Fire damage cover to your own car and any damage to a third party. This can be damage to another car, passengers in another car, passengers in your own car, motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and third party property damage. Comprehensive cover is the cover as described above Plus Accidental Damage you do to your own car (caused by you or others), Vandalism and Malicious Damage.
What is an Excess?
An excess is the amount you contribute towards a claim. The excess amount will be listed in your policy schedule or Quotation.
What is a No Claims Bonus?
A no claims bonus is a discount you earn for every year you are insured and do not make a claim on your policy.
How much is a No Claims Bonus discount worth?
Each insurers discount varies. But generally for each year that you are claims free you can earn approximately a 10% discount. Insurers cap the no claims bonus discount earned; the caps vary between 5 years and 7 years.

Step Back Bonus Protection means that following a claim an earned no claims bonus discount is reduced or Stepped Back - instead of a complete loss. For example; if you have a 5 years No Claims Bonus and your policy has a step back of 2 years. Then following a claim your bonus of 5 years will be reduced by 2 years and you will be entitled to a 3 year No Claims Bonus discount at your next renewal.
